‘Cielo Punku’ Viewpoint and ‘Apu Wiraqucha’

‘Cielo Punku’ Viewpoint and ‘Apu Wiraqucha’

Viewpoints are amazing places in every region, depending on how high they are and their location their view becomes more and more impressive, like the one we find in Apu Mama Simona in Ccorca. ‘Cielo Punku’ viewpoint in Huaro, Cusco had become really sound on social media. We could see many people taking photos with this huge cement hand facing the town of Huaro which seemed interesting, but is it worth visiting it? We decided to find out.

Cusco to Urcos

This time we got on a bus that took us from Cusco city to Urcos which is the capital of the Quispicanchi province in Cusco. We stopped in Canincunca Church and took time to visit it.

‘Cielo Punku’

After that, we walked for approximately ten minutes until we reached the promised viewpoint. Our first impression was that because of the marketing done onto this place we found a lot of people. We had to make a queue for half an hour approximately in order to take some photos. We didn’t feel free to enjoy the place, to do so we needed more time and I guess fewer people 😅. However, it felt great to know it and enjoy its view.

We asked ourselves what else we could do to make our experience more memorable, so asked the locals where we could hike. We were told that there were some frog figures 🐸 in rocks that we could visit on a hill two hours walking from where we were. With no hesitation, we ventured to visit it.

Our way to Wiraqucha’s summit

As we were up, the view became more and more astounding. We felt lost in some sections, but our hearts knew where we were going. It was absolutely stocking!

Finally, we had arrived at the Apu Wiraqucha’s summit. Its view is simply breathtaking. This cement hand should be here! 😁. From here one is able to see a great part of the South Valley, Andahuaylillas, Huaro and Urcos.

All in all, Huaro has an additional attraction that you will surely enjoy, ‘Apu Wiraqucha’. Although we have never found those frog figures, 🐸 on our way down we found a young shepherd that told us that we had to descend a little bit from the summit to find them. It was a great adventure!
