Muñapata Turquoise Waters

Muñapata Turquoise Waters

Muñapata is a village close to the town of Urcos, right at the turnoff of the highway to Puerto Maldonado, the Interoceanic. We had heard a lot about this wonderful place and its unusual waters.

We went driving to Urcos and then followed the road to a small parking place for visitors in Muñapata. We got out of the car and started walking to the entrance of this tourist attraction.

The path towards the Turquoise Waters is beautiful. We lasted half an hour to get there. In fact, this water is used for consumption and irrigation of the village and its peculiar colour is due to the different mineral compounds in the area.

We took some photos, enjoyed the place and returned to Urcos. There, we had lunch went to the lake, played a little bit and went back home.
