Apu Picol, San Jerónimo

Apu Picol, San Jerónimo

‘Apu’ is a Quechua word that Incas would use to refer to the living spirit of the Mountain.

Apu Picol is one of the sacred mountains for the locals and the protagonist of a great part of the faith of many in Cusco. Picol is visible from everywhere in the city and its summit represents a whole challenge for the adventurers.

We departed very early in the morning with the hope and faith that we’ll be blessed the whole journey. It took us approximately four hours to get there. However, it was a whole experience full of joy, energy and a deep desire to return.

Although we could see only part of the geography of the city from the top (because we went in the rainy season), it felt like in seventh heaven.
