Perolniyoc Waterfall and Raqaypata Archaeological site

Perolniyoc Waterfall and Raqaypata Archaeological site

Perolniyoc waterfall is a natural wonder located in the community of Socma, Urubamba in the Sacred Valley and it is estimated that its water drops at more than a hundred metres forming a fine and beautiful veil. There, it is also possible to visit the Raqaypata Pre Incan Archaeological site that is located on top of the waterfall. Raqaypata comes from the mixture of two Quechua words: Raqay which means shed and Pata which means high place.

Some friends had talked to us about this place and of course, we couldn’t miss it. We took a bus that left us at the entrance of the path to Perolniyoc, in the middle of the road. We walked for half an hour approximately when out of the blue, a car appeared and took us to Socma. Once there we continued the path and after forty minutes we arrived at Perolniyoc Waterfall. We enjoyed its water and its surroundings, and also have fun. After having a shower, we left for Raqaypata. It took us twenty minutes walking approximately. Being there is a unique experience. The view to the valley of Socma is thrilling.
